Honors English book choice question?

When I was going into sophomore year, we had to read Edith Hamilton's Mythology. It's stories about Greek Mythology, and it's really interesting. If that doesn't catch your fancy, then I suggest Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights or a Shakespeare play (I strongly recommend Hamlet, it's one of my favorites). Trying to stick with something most Honors classes would teach~

Do u like the start of my story?

Yeah, good grammar and punctuation helps, but that can get better if you keep practising, and read lots of books yourself. As for the story, it sounds like it could get interesting but, to be honest, it seems a little cliched. Unless you're writing specifically for ultra-conservative people or someone who's never met gay people in real life, why would they immediately think "oh, he's gay, he must be getting weekly pedicures"? I don't mean to discourage you, I think you've made a good start, but try not to second guess how other people will react and just try to write honestly. It helps to write about what you know, at least to start with, but even if you're not gay (or not a boy!), just try to have honest emotions about the subject and write from there.

Why is my sister like that?

I think she is "obsessed" with her self... she will take about 10 pictures a day on our webcam. When ever she is talking to me she looks into the mirror when she speaks. (It gets annoying!) She will spend hours on editing her photos. When were in the car she will take pictures of herself on her phone. Is this normal? Shes 16

Certainly all Christians can agree that the world, in general has fallen to the father of lies, the serpent, Lucifer. Whether we feel like rebels or not, we are. In Star Wars the rebels were the good guys overthrowing an oppressive empire. In the American Revolution, same thing. Are we not all today good people struggling to win small battles everyday against an oppressive dictator that has unrightfully tried to lay claim over this world and the people that live here. The question is, who amongst us is willing to go beyond small battles and actually fight in the war? Who of us are going to support those that try to make a difference beyond just their close circle of friends and family? As Christians, we all know there's a war going on, and we're definitely not only on the good guy side, but we're on the side that's going to win. Now it's our job to go out there and make sure that as many of Gods children as will hear the message of salvation decide to join with us in rebelling against wickedness and fighting for righteousness.

My friend who we can call "Sarah" met this guy on the internet, we can call him "Josh". He asked her to be his GF and she agreed. The two were dating fro a while, but now she is changing. She's telling me and Katie (Our other friend) that she loves Josh so much and that he's everything to her.She's letting him control her life. Am I addicted to video games?

Obsessed. Usually this means that there is something missing in your life. I have that same problem but it's with the Final Fantasy series. Not a day goes by where I'm not thinking about it. What you need to do is to find something else to get into like another hobby or interest if you don't want to have this problem. I find this helps, but when I get out of it I always find focus drifting back to video game series. There's nothing wrong, you just need new stuff to do and get into. Plenty of people have this problem too but their obsession lies in different things.

First off I'm 19 years old and a sophomore in community college. I make pretty good grades but at times it feels like I'm just wasting my time. When I was 17 years old I was charged with a bogus sexual misconduct offense (kind of like statutory rape but my lawyer and arresting officer said that it was just sexual misconduct and not "rape" and was a misdemeanor). The charges was dismissed and they were bogus in the first place because it was not me that did anything. It was actually a friend of mine who was 16 involving a 12 year old. This was not your regular 12 year old, she looked about 16 and was already sexually active, you would not believe it if you seen her. My problem is that I was that arrest on my record and I also have a petty larceny arrest on my record that was too dismissed. This involved taking a mp3 player with a friend. I want to become a police officer but I think that this record might be a major obstacle for me. I was told that it would not be a public record ( sealed expunged etc.) but the police will still know about it. What do you think I could do with my self? Just stay in school and maybe I will be accepted with a higher degree? Just try to be another form of law enforcement? Maybe a security guard? Can I still get a concealed carry permit(Rochester, NY)? Should I just change my mayor after I graduate in my current field(AAS Criminal Justice Police Science)? I'm just curious about what you think and maybe you would have some advice? answers.

I am trying to enlist in the army, the only thing is that I have a felOny offense that was reducedto a misdemeanor when I was 14. I am now 21 and have never been in trouble with any law since. I was turned down because my first charge was a felony. If I know a congressman who will write a letter or what ever they have to do will that work to get my felony waived. I also have police officers and a mayor who will write letters or even go with me to the recruitment office. Will any of this work?

Book Recommendations?

1984 is very, very good if you're into dystopias, and The Count of Monte Cristo was pretty cool. I had to read it for English so I don't know if I would have picked it on my own, but there's lots of hidden identities and poison and revenge and adventury stuff like that. :D (It's about 700 pages full length, so I reccomend the abridged version unless you like really long, wordy books.)

How to stop listening to music altogether?

This isn't for religious reasons, as I can understand people might think at first. I'm not even religious at all. But I've had an odd relationship with music for a few years. I think I have problems..?

Well, I'm kinda bored with life tbh. Nothing really excites me anymore. Overall, im happy, a lot more happy then i used to be. And I'm happy with who I am too. The other day I went on a day out with my friend, it should have been fun but I was in a down mood the whole time. I was bored, i felt totally empty. I was all like 'is this it.' I've been feeling, generally, happy and content these past few months, i get on with my parents now, i am more confident, i have lots of good day, i know who my friends are. It was the first time i'd felt like that in a long time. So it kinda scared me. I didn't wanna go downhill from there after everything:/ But now, after -what? three months?- of being happy (sort of) and having nothing particularly bad happen in my life, i'm started to feel empty and bored of life. It's like with everyday I feel empty and bored, I die a little inside (a bit dramatic but that's how i'd describe it). And then I'll have a good day or two, and there I pick up where I left off with the boredom thing. I've started to bruise myself too. I've started getting into fights, simply because I love getting punched, scratched, bitten, i love to vent my anger on others, i love the rush. I completely hide my feelings, i never cry and i'm kind of bitter and sarcastic. Complete opposite of who I was. I feel bored, I'm starting to become kind of evil, I obsess over things, I don't really know who I am or who I want to be, and the bad days are creeping back in. I don't think im particularly ugly, not anymore. I know i can be a good friend, I can make people laugh, I'm smart. But I'm now unpredictable, even I don't know what I'm gonna do next. I'm bored of being nice aswell. Technically everything IS going right. But the self harm? Random feelings of complete boredom? Kind of becoming a bad person? Obsessions? I think I need help..:L

Anorexia or crash diet?

okay so im 13, 5'4 115 lb. i have bad eating habits and i was wandering if its just a crash diet or like anorexia. so days that my parents arnt home and stuff i usually dont eat anything at all. just water or 0 calorie drinks. when my mom cooks dinner i just say i already ate and im not hungry. but when we go out to dinner like at a restaurant i usually eat a normal amount. because i dont want my parents thinking im not eating enough. and then just try to burn as much as i can off by running down our street or doing exercise videos. i am very insecure with the way i look...i always feel fatter then everyone else. even though i weight the same as most of my friends. if i eat anything i will start to freek out and ill just start running around to try and burn it off. losing weight is like on my mind 24/7. i also have an anxiety problem. so some nites i dont even sleep because im freeking out about how i look. i havnt really lost any weight.....but ive only been doing this for about 2 weeks. and when it comes to how many calories i eat in a day...every day is different. it could be 0 one day and 800 the next. i obsess about calories alot....if the box even says 0 on it, ill go back and check at least 4 times....i dont know why i do that though. and the longest ive gone without eating anything was 2 days i think. so ya i was just wondering if you guys think its just a regular crash diet or an eating disorder. i know im not underweight, so thats why i wasnt sure. (&when i dont eat for 2 days i usually go down to about 110lb). any answers would be a big help(:

Here is the problem: my mom had her friend Peck over yesterday. He is a nice, black guy, and wanted to give her something (I can't remember what it was). Peck and my mom were outside in the backyard talking when Sarah came out spying on them. Then she shouted, "WHY IS THERE A BLACK GUY IN YOUR YARD?! EVERYBODY LOOK! DO YOU SEE A BLACK GUY?! WHY IS SHE TALKING TO A BLACK GUY?!" What she did pissed me off. That was so rude! Not only did she do that; she also peered into my other neighbor's house at night, she walked right into my dad's home without knocking, she watches me and my friends when we go swimming and complains we aren't wearing any clothes (she doesn't accept anyone wearing swimsuits because it's considered being naked to her), she asks about everybody and what they are doing, and she reports whatever she sees to the whole neighborhood! Her brother (my Uncle Jimmy) was the mayor of the town until he died a few years back. Even he couldn't keep her from causing trouble. Everyone is getting ticked off at her. They tell her to stop but her defense is, "I never did that! You're lying!" I swear all she does is cause trouble! I don't know how to end this! Could anyone please help me? Thank you.

its unrealistic that you could do modelling and study to be a doctor at the same time, simply because the amount of work you have to do to become a doctor, then the little amount of money You make when modelling. If you have the financial support, then there is no harm in giving them both a go, but i would advise you to give modelling a go first (if you are old enough), and see how it suits you, and then you can carry it on as a side job and study to be a doctor as well, and if you don't like it, that's your decision made for you!
