Broken scaphoid pain?

It was a sharp pain in an area at the base of my thumb. If you were to give someone "thumbs up" you can see a little square area at the base of your thumb made by those ligaments/tendons. That area is referred to as the "snuff box". The pain was in there. I had x rays and then eventually was put in a cast. It's a hard fracture to spot apparently.
