Is he thinking of me .. but why wudnt he talk..?

so me and this guy have been friends for 4 years gr9- till now gr 12 iv had a crush on him so awhile and he knew.. but he doest want a gf. so all my friends told me to stop always msging him and ****. if he wants me he wud talk to me.. so i havnt talk to him all weekend and he just texted me saying hi... and I'm like heey , and he's like i just wanted to say hi.. he never goes along with a convo why ?
